Our quick Sign & Go wedding officiant service starts at $50 (cash rate) for a simple meet-up location in the Knoxville/Carter area.
Travel is available for mobile ceremonies, with pricing adjusted based on distance and location.
Couples are responsible for returning the completed marriage license to the county clerk for recording. However, I can return the documents to the Knox County Clerk for you for an additional fee.
I specialize in quick and simple Sign & Go ceremonies—think of it as the legal part, without the fuss. If you're planning something more involved with family, guests, or a full ceremony, I’m probably not your best fit (trust me, big ceremonies aren’t my thing 😅).
But good news—I know some fantastic officiants who love doing those! I’d be happy to refer you to someone who can help bring your wedding vision to life. Just let me know!
To get married in Tennessee, you’ll need to obtain a marriage license from any county clerk’s office in the state.
✔ Both parties must apply (many counties allow you to start the application online)
✔ Bring valid government-issued photo IDs
✔ There is no waiting period — you can get married the same day
✔ The license is valid for 30 days
Tennessee law only requires that both parties declare their intent to marry—a full ceremony is not required.
Once you have your license, we can complete your ceremony and sign it.
After the ceremony, the completed license must be returned to the same county clerk’s office that issued it for official recording (for example, if issued in Knox County, it must be returned to a Knox County Clerk) within 3 business days.
Only one person needs to return the license—both parties do not need to be present.
✔ Optional: I can return your completed license to the Knox County Clerk for you for an additional fee.
You’ll need to bring the marriage license and certificate of marriage you picked up from the county clerk dated within 30 days, along with valid ID for both of you.
And I know this might sound silly—but yes, both of you need to be there in person! (You’d be surprised… someone once showed up without their partner—but had her ID! 😅) I can't perform the ceremony unless you're both present and ready to say "I do"!
Nope—Tennessee doesn’t require a witness for your marriage license. But if you have someone with you and want them to sign as a witness, they absolutely can!
There’s no age requirement for the witness either—as long as they understand what’s happening and can sign their name. I once had a couple’s 12-year-old niece sign as a witness, and her name is now part of their official marriage record. Pretty cool memory, right?
I meet couples at all kinds of places—McDonald’s, the Knoxville Botanical Gardens, Paschal Carter Park, the Knox County Clerk, the Old Courthouse downtown, and private homes. (I’ve even officiated a few ceremonies with couples sitting in their cars!)
I also have a small setup at my home with a gazebo and walkway that’s perfect for a quick ceremony and a few photos afterward.
Just let me know where you’d like to meet. If I can’t make it to your chosen spot, I’ve got some amazing colleagues I can refer you to who probably can!
Yes! I’m happy to meet you at the Sevier County Courthouse to officiate your marriage for an additional fee.
Sevier County is a bit unique—they sometimes require the notary to stamp the back of the license, and sometimes they don’t… it really depends on who’s working that day. Because of that, I always turn in the license with the couple to make sure everything gets handled properly.
My Sign & Go services are based in the Knoxville area. However, I work with trusted officiant colleagues throughout East Tennessee, including the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area, and I'm happy to refer you to someone who can help. Just call or text (865) 386-7398 and I'll point you in the right direction.
Yes—absolutely. I officiate weddings for all couples and am happy to be part of your day.
Yep! As a Tennessee notary, I can officiate your wedding no matter which county issued your marriage license—as long as your ceremony happens somewhere in Tennessee. Just make sure to return the completed license to the same county clerk’s office where you got it after the ceremony.
Yes! Non-Tennessee residents can get married in Tennessee—there’s no waiting period and no residency requirement. Both partners must apply in person at any Tennessee County Clerk’s office and present valid photo IDs.
You can complete the application online ahead of time, but both applicants must still appear together to pick up the marriage license.
The license is valid for 30 days, so you’ll have plenty of time to schedule your ceremony.
Once you have your license in hand, give me a call—I’d be happy to officiate your marriage!
Absolutely! I’m happy to snap a few photos for you using my iPhone or your phone or camera—whatever you prefer. And don’t worry, I’ll never post your pictures on social media without your permission. I genuinely love taking photos and capturing those sweet moments!
How to Change Your Name in Tennessee After Marriage
This is your legal proof of your new name. You’ll need it for all the following steps.
Submit Form SS-5 to the Social Security Administration (SSA) with your certified marriage certificate and ID. This step is free and must be done before updating your license or other records.
Visit a Tennessee Driver Services Center with your current license and marriage certificate. Fees typically range from $8 to $28.
Depending on how long you’ve had your current passport, you’ll use Form DS-5504, DS-82, or DS-11.
You’ll need to request a new Certificate of Naturalization with your new name. File Form N-565 with USCIS and include your certified marriage certificate as proof.
Banks, credit cards, employer records, insurance, utilities, voter registration, etc.
