 Smoky Mountain Notary provides professional jail and detention-facility notary services throughout Knox, Sevier, and Jefferson Counties.

We regularly notarize documents for incarcerated signers, including:

• General and Durable Powers of Attorney
• Inability to Appear forms
• Deeds of Trust
• Letters of Permission
• Child Custody Agreements
• Property Release forms
• Affidavits
• Right to Travel forms
• DMV and Vehicle Release forms
• Real Estate Documents
• Impounded Vehicle Release forms
• Incarcerated Person Property Release forms
• Marriage License for an Incarcerated Applicant

An attorney does not need to be present. Smoky Mountain Notary can coordinate the notarization directly with the person requesting the service and the correctional facility. Some facilities may require advance approval or an appointment for notary visits.

• Minimum Booking and Service Fee: $150
  Includes one notarized signature and up to one hour of total travel-related facility waiting and transaction time.
• Additional Time: $50 per additional half hour
• Additional Signatures: $10 each for the same signer
• Payment Required in Advance
  The $150 minimum booking and service fee must be paid before the appointment is confirmed. Any additional waiting time or signature fees will be invoiced and are due after the appointment.
• Identification Required
  The incarcerated signer must have a current, unexpired government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, state identification card, or passport.

The $150 payment is a non-refundable booking and service fee, not a deposit. It is earned when the appointment is confirmed because time is reserved, preparation and coordination are completed, travel is required, and other appointments may be declined.

The fee remains non-refundable if:

• The correctional facility denies, delays, cancels, or restricts access
• The incarcerated signer is unavailable, has been transferred, or cannot be brought to the visitation area
• The incarcerated signer refuses or is unable to sign
• Acceptable identification is unavailable
• The document is incomplete, contains blank spaces, or cannot legally be notarized
• The appointment is canceled after it has been confirmed

Payment does not guarantee access to the incarcerated signer or completion of the notarization.

By submitting payment, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this non-refundable booking and service fee policy.

Please keep in mind that jail notarizations often take longer than standard appointments because of security procedures, facility staffing, lockdowns, shift changes, and wait times. Our fees reflect the additional coordination, travel, and time involved.
