Yes. Remote Online Notarization (RON) is legally authorized in Tennessee and recognized in many states. All notarizations are performed in compliance with Tennessee law.
Most documents are accepted, but some organizations may have their own requirements. If you’re unsure, check with the receiving party before your appointment.
Yes. As long as you are a U.S. citizen with valid identification and can complete identity verification, you can notarize documents from anywhere in the world using our online notary services.
You’ll have two attempts to pass the identity verification questions. If you are unable to pass, we can discuss alternative options or reschedule if appropriate.
A valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID is required, such as:
You must have your actual ID, not just a photo of it.
Most sessions are completed in just a few minutes once your documents are prepared and your identity is verified. Allow at least 15 minutes after the ID process for a simple document with one stamp.
No. The session is completed through a secure online platform — all you need is a device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection. You will be emailed the link to our online session.
Yes. Multiple signers can join from different locations or the same location, depending on your situation. Each signer must complete identity verification.
I guide you through the entire process. If you run into any issues, I’ll help you through it.
Your notarized documents are available immediately after the session on the platform and are ready for use. I can also download them and email them to you, if that would be better for you.
You will receive a secure payment link by text or email prior to your scheduled session. Payment is required before the session begins to confirm your appointment.
Once a notarization is completed, it is non-refundable. Please confirm your document will be accepted before your appointment.
Yes — real estate notarizations are a large part of what I handle through Remote Online Notarization (RON).
I regularly work with escrow officers, title companies, and real estate professionals to notarize seller packages, purchase documents, loan documents, and powers of attorney online.
Online notarization is especially helpful when signers are in different locations and unable to meet in person. It keeps transactions moving without delays.
I also prepare recordable documents to ensure they are ready for smooth e-recording.
I work across multiple secure Remote Online Notarization (RON) platforms to support both individual and real estate transactions.
I regularly use Notarize (Proof), NotaryCam, and SIGNiX, and I am also approved on Nexsys Clear Sign, Stavvy, and Qualia for real estate closings.
All platforms I use are MISMO-certified and meet industry standards for secure, compliant notarizations, including real estate transactions aligned with Fidelity-approved systems.
Yes—online notarization is legally equivalent to traditional, in-person notarization.
The main difference is how identity is verified and how the notarization is performed.
With online notarization:
✔️ Your identity is verified through Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) and credential analysis
✔️ The entire notarization is completed during a live audio-video session
✔️ The session is recorded and securely stored as part of the official record
In many ways, online notarization is actually more secure than traditional notarization because it includes multiple layers of identity verification and a recorded audit trail.
As long as the process is completed in compliance with Tennessee law, your notarization is fully valid and legally recognized.
If you fail identity verification twice, you will be locked out for 24 hours. There are no workarounds.
You must have your physical, non-expired government-issued ID. Photos or copies will not be accepted.
Yes. As long as the signer can complete identity verification and join the session, I can notarize documents for clients anywhere in the world.
Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA) is a security step used during online notarization to verify your identity.
You’ll answer 5 multiple-choice questions based on your U.S. public records, such as:
How it works:
If you fail twice, you will be locked out for 24 hours. There are no workarounds.
If the system can’t verify you, there’s nothing the notary can override. It’s not a “try harder” situation—it’s a hard stop.
KBA pulls from your U.S. public record and credit history to generate questions (your credit is not being pulled).
If there isn’t enough information available, the system may not be able to generate questions—and online notarization will not work.
This is common for:
If KBA cannot generate questions or you’re unable to pass, online notarization cannot proceed.
In this case, your options may include:
👉 Tennessee does not allow biometric identity verification for online notarizations, so KBA is required.
If needed, I can help point you in the right direction.
Yes. Even though California does not currently allow its own notaries to perform online notarizations, it does recognize valid out-of-state notarizations.
As a commissioned online notary in Tennessee, I can legally notarize documents online as long as the notarization is performed in compliance with Tennessee law.
This means your documents can still be:
✔️ Notarized online
✔️ Legally valid
✔️ Accepted for use in California
Always confirm with the receiving party (such as a title company, lender, or attorney) to ensure they accept online notarizations for your specific document.
California didn’t ban online notarization—they just haven’t rolled it out yet.
So they rely on states like Tennessee to get it done.
Online notarization laws vary by state.
✔️ Many states allow their notaries to perform Remote Online Notarizations (RON)
❌ Some states, like California, do not currently allow their notaries to perform online notarizations
Even if your state doesn’t allow its own notaries to perform RON, most states will accept a properly completed online notarization from another state.
As a commissioned online notary in Tennessee, I can notarize your documents online as long as:
Always confirm with the receiving party (title company, lender, or attorney) to make sure they accept online notarizations for your specific document.
Just because your state doesn’t offer it doesn’t mean you can’t use it—it just means you need a notary in a state that does.
